Creative At Home Date Night Ideas

Date nights are important for every couple. With the pandemic going on, it make going out for date nights more difficult. So at home date nights are becoming important. At home date nights are great because you can stay home, save a little money, and be more creative with your activities. So check out this list of fun date night ideas you can do at home.

    Bake Off

Any sort of bake off or cook off are some of my favorite date nights. You get to have the fun competition and have amazing food. Plus you are both in the kitchen at the same time so you are close to each other, which makes it so fun and romantic. There’s endless trash talking going on, but in between you pause to steal a few kisses. And when its all over you get to sit down and eat some amazing food. If you don’t want to make it a competition you can just cook together. Pick something you don’t make often, whether its a nice dinner recipe, bread, donuts, or whatever, and make it together. You can even combine this with a movie night so the date doesn’t have to end once you finish cooking.

    Get Creative

There’s so many fun creative nights you can do. Have a casual wine and painting night, have a paint off, paint your own mugs, make portraits of each other, whatever you want to do. This is a great date night because it’s something you don’t normally do, but its so easy to make it fun. And you can creative pieces that you can keep forever. Just think about how great it will be to have art pieces around you home that you can look at and remember the fun date night you had creating them.

Project a Movie in the Back Yard

This one is a little harder to do, but you can definitely adapt this to whatever works for you. The point of this date night is to watch a movie, but differently that how you normally watch TV or movies. Its easy for a date night to fizzle out if you are just watching a movie while sitting on the couch like normal. So if you can set something up so you can project a movie in your backyard than do something creative inside. Set up a fort or something and watch a movie in the living room. We like to pull out our favorite blankets and pillows, turn off all the lights and get candles, and set up a romantic, picnic like area in our living room. Then we make sure to pick a movie that at least one of us hasn’t seen before.

    Make a Bucket List

This one isn’t just a fun date night, but it can be a great set up for future date nights. Everyone has those things you want to do, but most of the time we don’t sit down and write them out. Getting with your partner and making a bucket list is an amazing way for both of you to get on the same page and talk about things you want to do together. This list can be anything you want, date nights, activities, vacations, places to see, or a combination of all of those. Once you write it out you can discuss some sort of plan for when you are going  to do them all. That plan will depend on what exactly is on your list but it can be anything from doing one thing a week to having the list finished within 10 years. This one is all about you and your partner and what you want to do together.

    Spa Night

Spa Nights are so much fun. If your parent and you have never put face masks on each other you are missing out. There’s something really fun and bonding about doing a spa night together. Not only is this a date night, but it’s also a great opportunity for both of you to relax and unwind. This is a great option for when you don’t want to do a fancy date night. If you have a large tub you can even do a two-person bath to make the night more romantic. So order some take out and grab your favorite face masks.

    Throwback Night

Throwback night, that just sounds fun. Get together with your partner, pick a time and have a themed night. Whether you pick decade, a year, a point in time in your life, or maybe even a season you really love. Pick something and have a whole night themed around that. Dress up like you would then, pick out recipes and drinks that remind you of the theme, watch movies from then, maybe play games. Whatever sounds fun to you guys.

    Play College Drinking Games

This is something you can combine with throwback night. College or your early 20’s is such a fun time for most people, although its less of a fun time for your liver, so why not have throwback night around college. Watch the movies you watched in college, eat the food you used to, and play the drinking games you used too. Getting together and playing college drinking games is such a good way to unwind and have fun together. This one is also a great option for a group date night. Whether you play beer pong, drunk uno, quarters, King’s Cup, flip cup, whatever your favorite games where. I promise you will have a blast.

DIY Bowling, Mini Golf, & Games

This one is so much fun. Turn your home into an arcade. Set up cups and get a ball and suddenly your hallway is a bowling alley. Mini Golf takes a little more planning, but its not that difficult to make your backyard a mini golf course. Pick whatever your favorite games and activities are and set them up at home. Chances are it is fairly simple to set it up in your backyard, and then you can make it as hard or easy as you want. And since its at home, you get the fun of doing these things in private, no being rushed by the people behind you, or whispering your trash talk so others don’t hear. Have as much fun as you want, and make it as personalized as you want.

    Personality Tests

If your parent and yourself haven’t taken the Love Language test you 100% need too. Personality tests are a great way to get your personality written out on paper, and then you can compare them. It’s so much fun to compare them and laugh about what you think is right or wrong. But it can also be an important step in your relationship. Taking tests like the Love Language tests tell you, and your partner, about how you show and feel love. Having that information written out can make a huge difference in a relationship, even if you think you already do a good job of communicating love. Personality tests are so much fun to do together, but they can also be a great bonding experience. Here’s some great tests you can do!
